“Ted 2” Blazing at the Box Office

According to Universal Studios’ estimates, Seth MacFarlane’s “Ted 2” will pull in a robust $45-$50 million at its 3,441 locations this weekend.  The box office in general is looking strong at week’s end as the “Ted” follow-up joins “Jurassic World”, “Max” and “Inside Out” at theaters.

The original “Ted” outperformed its estimates when it opened in 2012 with $54.4 million, on its way to a domestic grand-total of $218 million.  Thursday evening “Ted 2″ grossed $2.6 million from showings at 2,647 locations.

Directed by MacFarlane, “Ted 2″ will contribute to Universal’s already strong 2015, following “Pitch Perfect 2,” “Furious 7″, ” “Fifty Shades of Grey” and “Jurassic World.”
